Cambridge Online has traditionally been a data company. With the push towards convergence, it has become important to develop skills in the voice market. However, to implement Voice over IP successfully, it is imperative the designer has a full understanding of data networks, and in particular Quality of Service (QoS).

Our network designers have many years’ experience dealing with networks that have required traffic classification and prioritisation. The ability to provide appropriate QoS is essential for the successful implementation of any converged application, not just voice.

Our main partners in providing VoIP solutions are Enterasys and HP from the data network side and Siemens from the voice side.

The HiPath 5000 system provides an IP Telephony solution of very high quality. However, our most popular VoIP solution is still the HiPath 3000 system. This is because as well as being able to provide IP telephony services, it is based on an industry standard PBX, giving truly superb reliability. It is also an excellent way to start with a standard PBX and gradually migrate to VoIP as when a true requirement exists.
