HP OpenView Storage Area Manage (SAM) software suite provides a centralised and automated management solution for all storage across distributed, multi-vendor storage resources and infrastructures. SAM consists of five functional modules that combine to monitor, manage, account, optimise and plan storage service availability and capacity from a central console. SAMs five functional modules are:

Storage Node Manager - Quantify, control, plan, and manage direct-attached, Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) across the distributed enterprise.

Storage Builder - Simplifies and automates the management and planning of your storage resources and application capacity.

Storage Optimizer - Provides performance monitoring of your entire storage network and IT infrastructure from a single management console to alleviate costly bottlenecks.

Storage Accountant - Centrally account for storage assigned to users for financial analysis, budgeting, and charge-back of storage services.

Storage Allocater - Conveniently and confidently assign storage to one or more hosts and be assured that only specified hosts have access.
