HP ALPHASERVER FAMILY

HP AlphaServer systems, based on the acclaimed 64-bit EV6 and the next generation EV7 Alpha microprocessor, are synonymous with compute-intensive workloads, especially within the High Performance Technical Computing (HPTC) community. The next generation EV7 Alpha microprocessor is based on the EV6 core and incorporates two on-chip RDREM memory controllers. The EV7 Alpha microprocessor delivers truly scalable bandwidth and low latency paths to memory, I/O, and other processors in the system. The HP AlphaServer up to 4-way ES47, up to 8-way ES80 and up to 64-way GS1280 systems with the next generation EV7 Alpha microprocessor, developed under the code name “Marvel”, represent major advancements in performance, capability, reliability and manageability for HP Tru64 Unix, HP OpenVMS and Linux customers.

All new AlphaServer ES47, ES80, GS1280 systems can be divided into partitions, each capable of running an instance of an operating system. Each partition with CPU resources, memory, and I/O capability provides the attributes of a separate system, capable of functioning independently.

The HP AlphaServer family portfolio:

Entry-level - DS series ultra-thin rackmount and entry-level desktop systems. The HP AlphaServer DS series provides high performance for business, research and telecommunications applications at an affordable price.

Mid-range - ES series mainframe performance at a midrange price. The mid-range enterprise class multi-way HP AlphaServer ES series featuring the next generation EV7 Alpha microprocessor are ideal building blocks for departmental-level environment, demanding enterprise applications and database performance.

High-End - GS series for critical enterprise applications with requirements for high availability or scalability on demand. The HP AlphaServer GS series systems based on the EV7 Alpha microprocessor are available in multi-way expandable models and have considerable flexibility to move resources where needed, when needed, by dividing into partitions.
