NAV21 - Intermediate Report Designer (1 Day)

Course Aims

To help delegates develop their basic level report writing expertise to be able to create new more advanced reports. The course covers both the Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV Report Design wizard and then moves on to look in more detail at the standard Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV tools available for report writing. Work will be done to both write new reports and to modify existing ones. In addition, the course will demonstrate the best ways to locate the data they wish to report on.

Who should attend?

All 'Super Users' should attend this course having previously attended the Base Report writer training. Other delegates should be personnel who will be expected to extract information from, and report on, data held within Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV.

Course NAV20 - Base Report Designer or similar knowledge level

Course Content

Intermediate Report Designer

• Create and extend complex request forms; Add buttons and check boxes


• Define default values on report request forms


• Understand advanced report properties


• Define and understand the different types of variables


• Add text boxes to report sections that use variables as the source expression


• Write and understand basic C/AL code


• Use the C/AL symbol menu


• Understand commonly used built-in report functions


• Creation and use of 'process-only' reports


• Add and display pictures in reports


• Learn to use a 'virtual' table
