Microsoft announces release of
Navision v4.0
The latest version of Microsoft's award
winning mid-market business management solution is now available. It
is the first major release since Navision† became part of Microsoft
and it is the culmination of over two years of research to fully understand
customer issues and requirements from the Navision product
and from Microsoft to help customers achieve long-term business success.
The key enhancements in version 4.0 are focused on the following:
Improving User Experience
Microsoft Navision 4.0 delivers a user experience that helps both employees and system administrators
be more efficient and productive, with less effort. Version 4.0 introduces the Navision Navigation Pane which looks and
functions very much like the Navigation Pane in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. Its main menu content has been
structured around departmental areas to reflect employees' roles and tasks. Each of these areas has its own menu.
This makes it easy to find needed functionality, quickly.
Employees can now personalise the Navision main menu to suit the way they work.
Administrators can design and configure the Navision main menu to help employees do their job easier and faster.
Simplicity & Productivity
Transparency and Analysis enhancements help customers take sales orders more efficiently and design their own simple
reports in Navision for better analysis of their business. Enhancements in the user interface help sales assistants to work
directly in the system when taking an order. Information about item availability, substitutes, prices and discounts are contained
in a single view, making it easier to provide quick answers to customer questions. Three new features for reporting, Analysis Reports, Sales and Purchase Budgets
and Analysis views by Dimensions are powerful, flexible reporting options without needing to leave the familiar Navision interface
New to v4.0 are Business Notifications - easy to use functionality within Navision that generates e-mail messages to customers, employees, suppliers and partners to inform and alert them
of critical business conditions.
Financial Management
Intercompany Postings is new functionality within Navision that helps
customers create and distribute intercompany transactions between multiple
Navision companies. Also introduced in v4.0 are :
Partial Payments
Unapply & Reversal of Journal Postings
Consolidation Modifications - SFAS52/1AS21
Key Performance Indicators - new graphs within Navision
Business Analytics
Business Analytics for Microsoft Navision is a front-end solution for businesses with complex analysis and reporting needs
using detailed information generated from Navision. Business Analytics delivers Navision information in predefined or customised
OLAP cubes to enable users to gain Web-browser access to data, perform advanced analyses and define graphical views and reports
in a Microsoft Office Outlook like environment.
Manufacturing Foundation
Manufacturing Foundation 4.0 is the entry point to the Navision manufacturing solution offering key functionality to
manufacturers with simple production requirements. As and when business grows customers are able to upgrade to the full
Navision MRP/manufacturing solution. Features of Manufacturing foundation include:
Manual Planning - A simple supply planning tools that functions as a manual MRP system
Graphical Production Schedule - a Gantt based representation of production orders and capacity loading
Easy Production Reporting - Record consumption and output from the context of a production order line
